In a recent article published by the Harvard Medical School noted that life expectancy in a new born in the U S is around 78.2 years, a 65 year old can expect to live 19 years longer and a 75 year old can expect to live to another 12 years older.
Also, a 2007 study in the American Journal of Medicine focused on adult individuals who adopted a healthier lifestyle in their middle years. The researchers followed 15,700 adults, age of 45-64 for a decade and noted that 970 of those people who adopted a healthier lifestyle by the sixth year of the study, achieved great benefits rather quickly, from the healthier changes made.
In just 4 years the group who made only these 4 changes:
- adding 5 to 6 servings of fruits daily,
- worked out at least 2- 3 hours per week,
- did not smoke and avoided obesity
Had a 40 percent lower death rate and 35 percent fewer cases of heart diseases, compared to the group who made fewer changes.
The 10 steps to living a longer and healthier life!
